Hebrews 12:9-11

⁹ Furthermore, we ^[a]had ^[b]earthly fathers to discipline us, and we ^(A)respected them. Shall we not much rather be subject to ^(B)the Father of ^[c]spirits, and ^(C)live? ¹⁰ For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our benefit, ^(D)so that we may share His holiness. ¹¹ And all discipline ^(E)for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful, but to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the ^(F)peaceful fruit of righteousness.
